This is a very exciting time in Bide Awhile's history! The opening of our new Shelter is an extraordinary milestone in our history and we believe a turning point in the course of animal welfare in this community! But we still have much work to do - operating and managing the new facility, setting our goals for the coming years and taking a leadership role in educating the public about animal welfare issues.
As we enter this new era, we are seeking energetic, talented and creative Board and Committee members. Specifically, we require volunteers with experience in marketing, public relations, law, accounting/finance and fundraising. Previous Board experience would be helpful but is not necessary.

Bide Awhile Animal Shelter is on the look out for volunteers. Without volunteers Bide Awhile Animal Shelter would not have been in service for over 35 years. Without strong volunteer support in all aspects of the Shelter we would be unable to move forward. Bide Awhile Animal Shelter runs on 98% volunteer support and 2% staff.
On April 22, 2007 Bide Awhile proudly celebrated our volunteers by presenting our first "Volunteer of the Year" award. Recipient, Valerie Griffiths, said she was particularly honoured by the award: "I know how hard so many people work for Bide Awhile, this is humbling". President Lisa Richards cited Valerie's long service to our Foster Care Program, her dedication to our animal socialization program and her generous support of all Shelter fund raisers. Congratulations Valerie and our deepest gratitude to all members of the Bide Awhile volunteer family.
