I'm Found - Paddington and Humphrey's Story

I was into your website today and saw the lovely stories about adopted animals. I thought I would tell you the story about my two lovely cats.

In late June 2001, I was mourning the loss of my 13 year old English Setter, Jake, and my 13 year old cat, Katy, within two months of each other. Not being a person who is happy without pets, I came to Bide Awhile to see if I could find some other companion animals. I met a beautiful golden retriever, but he was just too much for me to look after by myself, particularly with working all day. Then I met Paddington and Nipper. Paddington was walking across the floor and Nipper was sitting in a basket on the windowsill looking beautiful. That was it. They adopted me! Both were adult cats, apparently about 1 1/2 years old. They came home with me the next day.

Paddington and Humphrey (Nipper) just took a look around my house and said to themselves, OK, this will do. No hiding, no shyness, just complete confidence that this was the place for them. They and I and my partner, Bill, have never looked back. Paddington adopted Bill and Humphrey adopted me. Two more spoiled cats you wouldn't want to meet and although Paddington tries and tries to get out, they are indoor cats. They spend a large amount of time on our laps and getting brushed as they are both long haired cats. This is a great situation in the cold winter weather as Paddington is 15 lbs and Humphrey is 20 lbs. Lovely lap warmers! Now the warm weather, well...! They are never happier than when we are both home to pamper them.

Adopting these two sweethearts is a decision I will never regret.
